SUBJECT COMBINATIONS/ PROGRAMMES OFFERED AT ZIGHIS:

The following subject combination shall be allowed for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination:


CORE SUBJECTS
The core subjects are compulsory for all students and programmes. These are:
  1. English Language
  2. Integrated Science
  3. Mathematics (Core)
  4. Social Studies
  5. Information and Communication Technology (Core)

PROGRAMMES FOR THE SCHOOL

A. BUSINESS PROGRAMME: (Accounting Option)
  1. Financial Accounting
  2. Business Management
  3. Principles of cost accounting
  4. Economics
  5. Mathematics (Elective)

B. GENERAL PROGRAMME
i.General Arts I Option
Students must enter four of the following subjects:
  1. Literature-In-English
  2. French
  3. Fante
  4. History
  5. Economics
  6. Government
  7. Christian Religious Studies
  8. General Knowledge-In-Art
  9. Music
ii.General Arts II Option
Students must enter four of the following subjects:
  1. Geography
  2. Mathematics (Elective)
  3. Economics
  4. Government
  5. History

C. SCIENCE PROGRAMME
Students must enter four of the following subjects:
  1. English Language
  2. Integrated Science
  3. Mathematics (Core)
  4. Social Studies
  5. Information and Communication Technology (Core)

D. VOCATIONAL PROGRAMME
This programme has two options- Home Economics and Visual Art Options:

i. Home Economics Option
Students must enter for:
  1. Management –in- Living
  2. Choose One of the following subjects:
    1. Clothing and Textiles
    2. Foods and Nutrition

  3. Student may also enter One of the following subjects:
    1. Biology
    2. Mathematics (Elective)

ii. Visual Art Option
Students must enter for:
  1. General knowledge –in- Art
  2. Graphic Design
  3. Leatherwork
  4. Economics


NB: PARENTS & STUDENTS SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY
  1. Withdrawal from the School
  2. A full term’s notice is required for the withdrawal of a student, or a full term’s fees will be charged in lieu of notice.

  3. Payment of Fees
  4. Fees must be paid promptly for each term either on or before the day of re-opening in Banker’s Draft payable to ‘The A.M.E. Zion Girls’ Senior High School, Winneba’. The payment order should be submitted to the Accountants for a receipt to be issued. Cheques and cash are strictly not acceptable.

  5. Visiting Days / Hours
  6. Visiting day is strictly 2nd Saturday of every month.Time: Strictly from 11:00am – 5:00pm.

    No students will be called out of class to receive visitors. Visitors are not allowed to go to the dormitories, classrooms or other buildings not designated for receiving visitors.

  7. Re-opening Date: Note with Care!
  8. Students should report to school on the day of re-opening. Those who fail to do so will be punished severely.

  9. Mid – Term Holidays
  10. The school does not grant mid-term holidays to students unless it becomes administratively necessary.

  11. Leaving School Premises Without Permission
  12. Care of the girls becomes the direct responsibility of the headmistress once they enter the boarding house.Girls’ who leave the school compound without permission remove themselves from the care of the headmistress and eventually remove themselves from the Boarding House.

  13. Use of Mobile Phones
    1. The possession or use of mobile phones by students in the school especially at dormitory is strictly not allowed. Any student found possessing a phone or using a phone or its accessories will face outright dismissal.
    2. Students are not allowed to make phone call unless the need arises. In that case they to do it at the phone booths at the stipulated days and times.
