COMMISIONING OF V.D KWESI MENSAH SIX UNITS BUILDING
On November 30, 2024, the Member of Parliament for Effutu Municipality, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, commissioned a six-unit block, which was named the V. D. Kwesi Mensah Block. The block was constructed to serve as a science laboratory, ICT laboratory, library, and classrooms for the benefit of students at A.M.E. Zion Girls’ senior high school.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Director of Education, members of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, representatives from the Ministry of Education, teachers, students, and members of the community. The ceremony began with a procession into the newly constructed block, followed by the unveiling of the plaque bearing the name of V. D. Kwesi Mensah, a prominent figure and teacher in the Effutu Municipality who had contributed significantly to the development of education in the area.
In his speech at the ceremony, Hon. Afenyo-Markin highlighted the importance of investing in education and infrastructure to improve the quality of education in the municipality. He emphasised the need for students to have access to modern facilities such as science laboratories and ICT labs in order to enhance their learning experience and prepare them for the demands of the 21st century.
Hon. Alex said he visited the A.M.E. Zion church at trauma in the year 2012 .Some needs of the school were brought before him by Rve.Godfred N. Zomelo the founder of A.M.E. Zion Girls. He also said the school needs support in their class rooms and other facilities and he is going to help soon.He then thaked the teachers for their support and traning the student.
Hon.Alex made us know that he was motivated by a man named Teacher Kwasi Mensah who was a teacher and also a traner for spporting activities.Teacher Kwasi Mensah was also an assembly member for Effutu Senya constituency and he benefited from him.He realy liked the man due to his hardwork and contribution to other works.
After his speech, he unveiled the new block and then cuted the ribbons. The building was named after his motivator HON .VD.KWASI MENSAH BLOCK AKA TEACHER KWASI MENSAH.
A poetry was recited in a form of vote of thanks by Miss Sandra Abgeko which made Hon Alex Markin excited and eulogised her.

The V. D. Kwesi Mensah Block consists of six rooms, with each room dedicated to a specific purpose. The ground floor, which has three rooms, houses the science laboratory, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to facilitate practical learning and experimentation in the sciences. The second room is home to the ICT laboratory, which is equipped with computers, internet connectivity, and other resources to help students develop their digital literacy skills. The third room on the ground floor serves as a library and classrooms, providing students with a quiet and conducive environment for study and research.
The construction of the V. D. Kwesi Mensah Block was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Member of Parliament, the Effutu Municipal Assembly. The project was completed within the stipulated time frame of 8 years, thanks to the efficient coordination and management of resources by the project team.
The commissioning of the V. D. Kwesi Mensah Block is a significant milestone in the efforts to improve the quality of education in the Effutu Municipality and the A.M.E.. Zion Girls’ SHS. The facility will benefit generations of students by providing them with access to modern and well-equipped facilities that will enhance their learning experience and prepare them for a successful future. The Member of Parliament and all those involved in the project are commended for their commitment to education and their dedication to the development of the school.
