OVERVIEW
The Home Economics program at A.M.E. Zion Girls’ Senior High School level is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and skills in various aspects of home management and economics. This course covers a wide range of topics that are essential for everyday life and for successfully managing a household. The Home Economics course also focuses on developing practical skills such as sewing, knitting, and clothing construction, as well as home maintenance and repair. Students will learn how to create and maintain a comfortable and functional living space, as well as how to care for clothing and other household items.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
- To develop an understanding of the principles of nutrition and meal planning, and to enable students to make informed decisions about food choices and meal preparation.
- To equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage household finances effectively, including budgeting, saving, investing, and making responsible consumer choices.
- To provide students with practical skills in clothing construction, sewing, knitting, and textiles, enabling them to create and care for clothing and other household items.
- To enhance students’ understanding of interior design principles and home decorating techniques, enabling them to create a comfortable and functional living space.
- To foster an awareness of sustainable living practices, environmental conservation, and the importance of responsible consumption and waste management.
- To promote an understanding of family dynamics, child development, and effective parenting techniques, enabling students to create a nurturing and supportive home environment.
