On March 6, 2025, the A. M. E. ZION Girls Senior High School proudly represented the school and community at the 68th Independence Day Parade held at the Presbyterian School Park. This annual celebration, which honors our nation’s hard-won freedom and achievements, was marked by vibrant displays of patriotism, creativity, and unity. The students of A. M. E. ZION Girls Senior High School began their preparations weeks in advance with rehearsals that included marching drills, and artistic expressions of national pride. Under the guidance of dedicated teachers and staff, the girls committed themselves to excellence in every aspect, aiming to showcase their love for their country and the values of the A. M. E. ZION community.

The Parade Experience

The event kicked off with various schools and organizations from the Effutu Municipality gathering at Presbyterian School Park, creating a tapestry of colorful floats, traditional music, and cultural exhibitions. The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement as students, teachers, and community members came together to celebrate the spirit of independence. A. M. E. ZION Girls Senior High School’s contingent consisted of 30 enthusiastic students, with 4 teachers all clad in vibrant school uniforms adorned with red, yellow, and green – colors that reflect our national identity. The students marched proudly, demonstrating synchronized movements and perfect timing, which received loud cheers from the crowd. In addition to the marching segment, the school’s display featured a thematic float that depicted the significance of independence and the role of young women in nation-building. This float was especially designed by the students under the mentorship of art and sports teachers and highlighted key historical figures and milestones in our country’s journey to freedom.

The school community extended their heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event. Special recognition was given to the school’s administration for their unwavering support and encouragement, which motivated the students throughout the preparation process.

The 68th Independence Day Parade was not only an occasion to celebrate Ghana’s heritage but also an opportunity for the students of A. M. E. ZION Girls Senior High School to showcase their talents, values, and commitment to their country. The experience fostered a sense of pride and belonging, reinforcing the idea that the spirit of independence is alive in the hearts of our youth. As we look forward to future events, the A. M. E.
